About Us
Vito A. Abrusci is a retired Lieutenant from the Mendham Township Police Department with twenty- five plus years of exemplary service. His first fourteen years of service was assigned to the patrol division and the majority of his shifts were on the overnight tours where he was continually a top producer in enforcement of impaired driving.
In 2002 Vito A. Abrusci was promoted to the position of Patrol Sergeant, where he was given the assignment to train officers in the detection and enforcement of Impaired Driving. In 2004 he received training to become a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). He was tasked with the responsibility of creating a policy for the DRE program for the Police Department.
After demonstrating efficiency in the DRE program, Vito A. Abrusci’s services were sought by the New Jersey State Police to become a DRE Instructor in 2007 and has provided instruction at numerous classes in New Jersey certifying police officers up to his retirement in 2013.
Throughout his career, he has stayed current with certifications in Radar operator, Accident Reconstruction, Breathalyzer 900 and 900A, Alcotest 7100 MKIIIC, Alcotest 9510, and an instructor in the Draeger Portable Breath Test Unit 6510, CMI Intoxilyzer Portable Breath Test Unit SD-5, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST’s) and DRE.
Vito A. Abrusci DUI Consulting has testified in hundreds of cases and has been recognized as an expert witness as a Drug Recognition Expert in several Courts. He has been the project manager on numerous DWI checkpoints which makes him knowledgeable with the proper implementation of these checkpoints.
He is a “hands on” type of individual that understands the importance of properly following the established protocols and has done so with twenty-five plus years of experience in the field as well as providing the instruction to others.
